Pre-Spring Begins

Today, December 21, is the Winter Solstice.

It is the shortest day of the year.

Sometimes, I feel that I just want to sleep until Spring comes.

But then I remember that tomorrow the days will begin to lengthen. Only by 2 minutes a day, but by early January it will be noticeable.

So I prefer to think of this new season as Pre-Spring.

In only three months, Spring will be here...

Have a very happy Holiday Season!

    1. Thanks, Claudine! The colours were so unusual I had to take a photo.

  3. Light around the corner...
I now have another owl person in my world, Barb. DD decided they're her thing, so I brought some arty ones back from Jerusalem. Happy Hanukkah!

    1. Yah for your daughter! When we visited M's cousin in Haifa in 2000, we discovered that he likes owls, too. And I learned that the Hebrew word for owl is "ulfish." I bought a small silver "ulfish" there. :-)

      Happy Hanukkah, Mirka!

  4. Pre-Spring: Perfect. I know that on Dec. 21 I'm always aware that the days will lengthen from now on. I just wish it wasn't still quite so dark at 6:30am. :)

    1. You're right, Marcia! I wish Echo wasn't on permanent Daylight Savings Time, because he still wants to get up about an hour before I'm ready to.
