Happenstance
I met you on a blind date
arranged by a woman
who knew our parents
but not us.
She thought we liked fine art
but you liked classical music
and I preferred writing.
You lured me with humour
and we've been married 32 years.
Were you my beshert? Fate?
Or happenstance?
Very nice, Barb. As to the final question, isn't everything a sausage of both chance and fate at once?
ReplyDeleteYou may be right about that. But I think that, even if that clueless, well-meaning woman hadn't introduced us, we would have found a way to meet anyway...
ReplyDeleteI'm adding a photo of "Under The Arch" by Ken Danby. I had one conversation about Ken Danby with Mrs. Clueless because I had bought his serigraph and she was an early patron of his before he became well-known. I was interested in Ken Danby but not "art in general" at that time.
Whether it be fate or happenstance, the main thing is, you found each other. Happy Anniversary! ☺
ReplyDeleteThanks, Debbie!
