Mystery Bird Visit

Early this morning we noticed a GIGANTIC bird on the ledge of our 6th floor terrace. Assumed it was a Canada Goose. Its leg seemed to be injured because he/she was limping along. I was going to call Wildlife Control after we finished breakfast but it disappeared in the meantime.

Did he drop by for some of my blueberries or a cup of coffee?

If he was after my weed collection (I'm talking dandelions etc. in planters, not cannabis), there was a glass railing between him and them. If he had landed a bit further, he could have had a nibble.

If he could fly, why did he land?

  1. DH has been feeding injured geese at a lake nearby. They fly and swim even when walking is hard. Most lost foot/feet because they were tangled in careless fishermen's nets/lines left behind. Our city is more concerned with fining those who feed the injured geese than fining the fishermen who leave their plastic fishing lines in the water. These Canada Geese are both personable and smart.

    1. Thanks for the info about fishing nets, Mirka. Most Canada Geese here--not this injured one--have become quite aggressive. They will guard their garbage finds by flying at you. So I understand why you usually shouldn't feed them.
