As I looked at the dismal weather on my terrace yesterday, I remembered something I read a long time ago. The quote is from Anne Shirley, also known as
Anne of Green Gables.
"Snow is April is abominable," said Anne. "Like a slap in the face when you expect a kiss."
-- L.M. Montgomery, Anne of Ingleside.
Anne wasn't shy emotionally. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI'm amazed that I can still remember a quote from an Anne book. I probably read that book when I was 8 or 9.
DeleteOh Barb! It is abominable. I still remember a May snowstorm that blew in from the North when I was living in Eastern WA killing all my tomato plants. I'm sending you some sweet Carolina sunshine to melt that snow.
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks, Vijaya. Tomatoes are delicate. Our friend who grows them has probably had similar experiences. Tomorrow is supposed to be sunny and warmer so the snow should be gone soon.
