Ice Storm

We lost power from Saturday night until this morning due to an ice storm that affected over a quarter of a million households in the Greater Toronto Area alone. Only about half of those people have their power back as of this morning.

Although at first the quiet was restful, it soon got old...and COLD.

Now serving...icicles on the terrace!

I tried to photograph the icy trees, but this doesn't do them justice. It was a dazzling spectacle, until you realized what havoc those twinkly trees caused.

Winter wonderland? I think not.

We were almost ready to board Echo and stay in a hotel when the lights came back on. Although it was involuntary, the experience gave us a new appreciation for modern conveniences and simple things such as heat, light, food, shelter, warm clothes, and hot water. We have a lot to be thankful for.

Happy holidays and keep warm!

    1. "Defrosting"--Sounds good. Have some hot cocoa with extra marshmallows or a pot of hot coffee with me. :-)

  2. Wow! So pretty...and deadly! Glad it got sorted for you. Hopefully the rest of your winter behaves nicely!

    1. Thanks, Leandra.

Although I was hoping for an El Nino winter, this one started off with an icy wallop. Just about everyone has their power back, but it will take a while to clear the fallen branches and repair damaged property.
