Niagara On The Lake

Yesterday, M and I and two good friends drove 90 miles south to Niagara On The Lake for a relaxing day trip.

The weather was perfect: sunny, warm but not too hot. Although I did find myself popping in and out of the air-conditioned stores to keep cool.

Queen's Landing

Queen's Landing is an elegant hotel with a water view from the bar and patio. We chose to eat lunch in the bar near the window, to avoid pesky bees and intense sun.

From the bar and patio you can see the lake and sailboats.

Besides the Shaw Festival, Niagara On The Lake is best known for the outstanding flowers everywhere: beside the curb, on people's lawns, and hanging from lampposts.

  2. We also drove along the river road, the Niagara Parkway, which has mansions and vineyards overlooking the Niagara River.

    1. Niagara On The Lake feels like a trip back in time, very Victorian and British. There are some historical sites, too. It was the scene of a few battles of the War of 1812. Best of all, it's the site of Laura Secord's homestead!

  4. Oh, that looks beautiful! And so summery. I love the striped leaves on those orange cana lilies.
