Wednesday in Stratford

Yesterday we drove the 90 miles to Stratford, Ontario to see a matinee performance of King Lear.

Although we drove under some dark clouds that threatened enough rain for the storm scene in Act III, by the time we arrived, the sun came back for its encore.

After a picnic lunch, we watched the play.

We took a stroll along the river to look for swans before leaving for home, taking the slower, more scenic highway.

    1. I always get a thrill from seeing a Shakespearean play performed on a replica of the Globe. In my aspiring-actress days I felt that I belonged on that stage.

I especially liked Colm Feore as King Lear and Sara Farb as Cordelia. Some of the minor characters, though, didn't project their voices as well as they should have; we missed several lines.

    1. It was a serene day in the country, a truly restful break from the big city. And I got my Shakespeare fix. :-)

  4. What a beautiful trip! I've yet to take my kids to a Shakespeare play. Must amend that when the opportunity arises.

    1. Yes, I think they'll enjoy seeing a good performance much more than learning about it in school.
